Test Press Books #3 is finally there and started with a magical performance by myself. Making the Skiapodes disappear from the book La Scomparsa Degli Skiapodi (“The Dissapearance of the Skiapodes”) by Mark Manders. Books are magic and can not always understood at once. At Test-Press Books you will find an intriguing combination of art and books. This years event features an impressive exhibition that gives insight in the work of Dutch artist Ruth van Beek (nominated for the 2023 PhotoBook Awards Shortlist by Aperture with her latest book ‘The Oldest Thing’), alongside the internationally acclaimed book as an exhibition “Uranus” by designer Karel Martens (recently honored with the ‘Piet Zwart” oeuvre-award) and his video work “Not for Sale”, both presented along with their creative process display-tables and a range of published books.
The event-program includes a wide selection of diverse books for sale from prominent independent artists and designers as well as publishers, including Roma Publications, Van Zoetendaal, Spector Books and the latest releases from critical art & design publisher Valiz. In addition to these, you will have the opportunity to purchase many other publications on topics ranging from graphic design, fashion and photography to typography, illustrated stories, academic publications and BA & MA student graduation projects and thesis.
Finaly the event includes a fine selection of photographers-publications and photo-books presenting ’Dutch Identity’, a movement in portrait photography, many of which provide insight into their editing process. Finally an attempt was made to include books that relate strongly to nature and environmental issues. How can we critically look at it, research it, archive it and get inspired by its richness in aspects.
